Computer Science & IT 

A high-quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. Computing has deep links with mathematics, science, and design and technology, and provides insights into both natural and artificial systems. The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world. 

Throughout Key Stage 3 (in addition to use of information technology in other subjects) students undertake lessons where they tackle a mixture of Computer Science and information technology based topics. Some of these areas of study will be completely new to them, whilst others may build upon prior knowledge gained at primary school. Topics include:

ICT Resources: Hardware and Software 

The School is committed to the continual development of its computer science and information technology facilities and boasts one of the best school networks in Warwickshire. We also have the highest student to computer ratio in the County. 

The School runs an RM CC4 network with 400+ workstations, 130 laptops and most classrooms have LCD projectors with multimedia facilities. There are 6 dedicated IT suites, fitted with the latest computer equipment and a projector for ease of teaching. We also have a Music suite fitted with Apple iMacs for composing and recording. There is an extensive fast wireless network throughout the whole school. 

We have new AV equipment in our theatre with a HD projector and 5M wide screen
